The Brushy Creek & Santa Fe is a representation of the modern era BNSF using BN and UP tracks. The layout has about 99.99% scenery completion (are we ever really finished?). Layout has more than 300′ of track done in a bi-level modified mushroom style. Additional track added in 2020 and 2021. Trains start in Corpus Christi, to Austin, to Temple all on level one. Then up a helix to Denver and on to Salt Lake City. Excursion train goes to Cripple Creek, CO. Fall colors prevail with Aspens showing their beautiful foliage. Layout is dominated by a huge mountain with a real seven-foot waterfall (yes, it is running). Trains will be running using Digitrax DCC. Extras include: thunderstorm with lightning and thunder, working wind turbines, working oil rig, Austin City Limits stage with Asleep at the Wheel playing, working water tower for steam trains and more. This railroad will be hosting the operating session(s).

Tom also has the Longhorn Creek & Santa Fe – a 1970’s era dead rail garden railroad in the backyard. Track is a continuous loop dog bone. The highlight is the 8′ long steel bridge built with rivets and steel tubing that spans the lower part of the Longhorn Creek…a man-made creek with waterfall that runs about 45′ across the back yard. The gondola might even be carrying iced beer as the train makes its loop. Modern engine with sound, battery powered, pulls the cars.

Note: This railroad will be hosting operating session(s) but will not be open for the layout tour.
